-
I've never left our pet before. What do I need to do?
Your
pet's needs are very important to us. Please read the Pet Owner
Checklist for specific answers.
Pet Owner's Checklist
- What
kinds of pets do you sit?
Just about all critters that you may own. Large farm
animals are not included. Cats, Dogs, Birds, Reptiles, Guinea
Pigs, Rabbits, and fish (both fresh and salt).
- Do
you keep them in your home or mine?
Your home. Your pet stays in its own familiar secure
environment where all the sights, smells and sounds that say
Home! Travel in a vehicle to a relative's house, a boarding
facility or kennel may upset your pet.
- How
many times do you see them each day?
At least once a day. The charge is $12+ per visit.
I do not do "every other day", due to emergencies
that can happen to your pet during a 48 hour period.
- How
long do you stay at each visit?
This depends on the kind and how many animals you have.
Average time is between 20 - 30 minutes, giving the sitter plenty
of time to care and love your pets, as well as bring in the
mail, change the lights, and water plants. The time of visit
can not be guaranteed, but attempts to accommodate will be made
when possible.
- Do
you or I provide the food?
Customary diet provided by you is followed, as so not
to upset your pet.
- How
much do you charge?
Each visit is $12 up to 3 animals. $3 for each additional
animal (small rodents, fish, and reptiles excluded)
- Do
I pay before or after my return?
Both. We require a deposit of 50% due at the time of
initial consultation. The rest of the amount is due upon your
return.
- How
much notice do you generally need?
The earlier the better. Especially around Holidays.
One week is the minimum we ask. Please call us as soon as you
can if you have to leave on short notice.
- What
happens if I have to cancel my trip?
If
given more then a 24 hour notice, nothing is due. Less then
24 hour notice and a cancellation fee of $15 will be billed
to you.
- If
my pet becomes ill will you take them to your vet or mine?
You
will need to sign our Vet Release Form. Your pet will be taken
to his/her regular vet unless closed, then your pet will be
transported to the nearest open animal hospital and treated
there.
- Are
you insured?
Yes.
- Do
you work on Holidays?
Yes,
and bookings go fast. Please call us as soon as you know you
are going away. (Exception: I do not work on Labor Day Weekend.)
- Can
you email me to let me know how my pets are doing?
Of
course! We'll let you know how your darlings are doing via email.
Just give us your email address so we can send you an update.
Your address will never be given out or sold, period.
